ACTING AUDITION - Channel

There are very few who look forward to or are prepared for auditions. Auditions can be unsettling, for sure. But, there are some secrets and tips that can help you survive and even be successful when going for an audition. First, always remember that most everyone will be nervous even the director because he or she is meeting and auditioning new people and are looking for just the right people to fulfill their directing needs. They will be anxious until they find just the right people. Second, be sure to arrive at the audition early. The old saying, "the early bird gets the worm" applies when auditioning. When you arrive early, you will be met with fresh minds and eyes. They will be more eager to listen to your audition and if you show potential, will remember you. Being remembered is important because you may be called back for a second audition. Third, bring pictures, documents or a resume of what you have done in the past. When the director can see what you have done, he or she will have a memory of you and how well you did, as well as what you have done in the past. Fourth, when you walk in, walk with confidence, boldness and an air of "I'm ready and prepared to do my job and no one else will come close to what I can offer!" Fifth, know your lines. As much as possible memorize your lines and know where you are to stand. Give your lines in a loud and affirmative voice especially if the subject matter requires it. If your lines are sad, depressed or searching, keep your words more low key but give facial expressions that stand out. How you look when giving your lines is just as important as how you say them. Sixth, nothing is more important in the acting world as an air of confidence. When someone is confident in their abilities and where they are in the world, they are noticed and appreciated. So, if you are lacking confidence, then put on the mask of confidence and you will find, that in due time the boldness of confidence will arrive. Seventh, whenever possible draw on your experiences in life or on someone who has gone through what your character is going through. Past experiences can help greatly when searching for the right emotion to portray.
