BICYCLE LIGHT - Generator

This is a guide for switching the batteries in bicycle lights. Though battery operated bicycle lights come in many shapes, sizes and forms, changing the batteries is easy to do in most. Most bicycle lights have a small cavity in the back or underside of the body for battery housing. Depending on the quality of the bicycle light the requirements will include one to four triple-A or double-A batteries. To insert the batteries into a bicycle light the door must first be either taken off or if it is hinged to the bicycle light it must be opened. The little door can be unlocked by pushing the little clasp back towards the door and lifting up simultaneously. The old batteries are now exposed and are ready to be taken out. Taking the batteries out is a simple process. Each battery is fit snuggly into its own niche. Using a finger at one end of the battery, or if the batteries are tightly housed a small screw driver may be used, pry the battery out. It is easier to pry from the positive raised end than the negative flat end. This action will displace the battery and it will sit loosely in the housing. Remove the displaced battery and set aside for proper disposal later. Repeat the process starting from prying the battery out for the remaining batteries. When all the old batteries are removed the new batteries may be inserted. To insert batteries, the placement of the springs in the cavity housing must be examined. The springs for each battery niche will never all be on the same side of the battery housing. They will alternate ends. Each spring in the housing must be paired with the negative flat end of the bicycle light to work. The easiest way to insert the new batteries is to slide the negative flat end of the battery in the niche towards the spring and then press positive raised end down into the side without the spring. The battery should snap into place snugly. Repeat the process starting from sliding the negative flat end into the spring with the remaining fresh batteries. When all the new batteries have been inserted the little door can now be replaced, closed, and locked in position by pressing the latch down. The bicycle light is now completely prepared to make nighttime and lowlight bicycle riding safe and enjoyable.
