MALTESE PUPPY - Sale

Bringing your Maltese puppy home is a big deal. It does require some preparation on the new pet owner's part. Aggressive behavior has been bred out of dogs over the years but no breeder can get it all out. It is just a dog's nature to have a bit of aggression. It seems to come naturally to them. The question to answer is who is my dog aggressive with - family or strangers? Once you've determined where the aggression lies you are ready to deal with taming your aggressive puppy. You may ask why even bother with addressing the types of aggression your new puppy demonstrates? Because the two types are caused by different reasons and are handled quite differently. Let's say your puppy is aggressive with strangers. The most common reason for this is he hasn't been properly socialized. You have kept him too isolated. After your Maltese puppy has had all his shots begin the socialization process. You might consider taking him to a puppy school. These are often held at pet stores or even a local veterinarian's office. Usually this consists of ten puppies and their owners and a professional trainer working on a weekly basis. They usually teach simple commands like sit and stay. It offers your new puppy a great opportunity to play with other puppies and be around their owners. Next, if your puppy is demonstrating aggressive behavior with family members it might be he is simply being over-protective of his owner or perhaps a member of the family is mishandling or mistreating him. Consider the puppy a member of the family pack and let him know where he stands in this group. Often, puppies begin to think they are the pack leader and will begin to show signs of aggression with a member of the family. It is time to reinforce some of the commands he learned at puppy school. It takes patients and consistently working with your new puppy. Keep in mind, bringing home a new puppy is similar to bringing home a new baby. You have to be flexible and patient until everyone adjusts to the new routine. If you take your time and don't expect everything to fall into place immediately, you'll have the new puppy eating out of your hand in no time.
