RACK BUILDER - Army
The United States Army’s rack builder program is administered by the military awards branch. Since the 1700's this program has been designed to give every soldier the opportunity for recognition by his superiors and his fellow soldiers so that no good deed goes unnoticed. It is the responsibility of every soldier in the military armed service to tell their superior officers if they witness a fellow soldier commit an act of selfless bravery or exceptional service so that the soldier can be recognized and awarded for their service. Every branch of the military participates in the rack builder program; with soldiers serving in more then one branch of the military able to wear their service ribbons displaying the ribbons earned for special skills learned, outstanding service, and achievements made for the benefit of their unit. Although this program is designed to celebrate the achievements of the active duty soldiers; it goes along with the doctrine of the military where it is under tight control of rules and regulations. Ribbons are required to be worn in order of superiority; worn from the soldiers right to left side. All decorations must be worn in a line, either with no space between ribbons; or if a space is wanted, they must be one eighth of an inch apart. There can be no more then four decorations in a line; but the soldier can wear multiple lines depending on the number of decorations earned. Should a soldier receive ribbons from a non-military federal agency these are allowed to be worn, as long as they are worn based upon date of issuance. If a soldier is caught wearing unauthorized ribbons, or if he wears his decorations in the wrong order; he will be subject to stiff penalties and fines from the military. Soldiers who have served in more then one branch of the military have to wear their medals in the order of; Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard. The rack builder system is one of the best tools designed to ensure that every soldier serving our country is able to receive every commendation deserved for the selfless service of protecting our country.
